Being blind or having blindness is the deprivation of sight. You are lacking discernment and inability to recognize or detect things with clarity (darkness obstructs/blocks light.)
Websters 1828 Dictionary defines it as:
BLIND: 1 Destitute of the sense of seeing, either by natural defect, or by deprivation; not having sight
2 Not having the faculty of discernment; destitute of intellectual light; unable to understand or judge; ignorant; …
BLINDNESS: 1 want of bodily sight; want of intellectual discernment; ignorance
[Dark: Destitute of light; obscure. A dark atmosphere is one which prevents vision.]
and “sight” as….
SIGHT: 2 The faculty of vision, or of perceiving objects by the instrumentality of the eyes.
3 Open view; ..unobstructed vision; a being within the limits of vision
[Light: Illumination of mind; instruction; knowledge (Daniel 5:11)]
Blindness is connected with darkness because when you are blind you can’t see.
Vision is connected with light because when you have sight you can see.
When your eyes are closed you can’t see, when your eyes are open you can see.
Acts 26:18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is me.
1 John 1:5-7 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
When your eyes are open you have vision (sight).
Acts 9:8-17 And Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw no man: but they led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus. And he was three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink. And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision,Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord. And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth, And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight. Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem: And here he hath authority from the chief to bind all that call on thy name. But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings and the children of Israel: For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake. And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.
In this scene Saul was transformed/converted to Paul (from darkness and being blind to light and having vision). Paul’s eyes were opened or in other words he saw a vision that he would see a man by the name of Ananias but hadn’t seen him yet. The Lord than spoke to Ananias in a vision to meet with Paul because Paul was chosen to bind those that seek the Lord.
By Paul’s vision/revelation (2 Corinthians 12:1….I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord. (revelations likened to visions- the Lord reveals to those that walk in the light) of the man Ananias coming to meet him actually transpiring it, he was awakened belief and filled with the Holy Ghost. When the bible speaks of one arising it is speaking of them awakening out of sleep or death/sin which is darkness: Ephesians 5:14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. Paul arose and was now able to discern good from evil.

1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
If you are in sin you are in darkness. You are blind and are are unable to see the light of life. If you are blind you are ignorant of what light is. If you are unable to discern light from darkness it is because you have shut your eyes to the light of the truth. Where can you find truth? The Word of God.

As the flower turns to the sun, that the bright beams may aid in perfecting its beauty and symmetry, so should we turn to the Sun of Righteousness, that heaven’s light may shine upon us, that our character may be developed in the likeness of Christ. SC 68.2
